Steve Trafton, Executive Director
Steve Trafton has been the Executive Director of the Henry's Fork Foundation since 2002. Prior to moving to Idaho, Steve founded and ran Trout Unlimited's California office, where he focused on cooperative restoration projects targeting salmon and steelhead as well as inland native trout recovery efforts and state hatchery policy. A New England native and 1992 graduate of Harvard University, Steve spent four years as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps before joining TU. Steve's articles on trout fishing and salmonid conservation have appeared in Fly Fisherman, California Fly Fisher, Northwest and Southwest Fly Fishing, The Drake, and Trout magazines. An avid fly fisherman since the age of seven, Steve is also a dedicated mountaineer and cross country skier. Melissa, Steve's wife, is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Art History. They are the parents of three girls Mary, Frances, and Elizabeth.

Jim De Rito, Conservation Director
Jim has been the Conservation Director at the Henry's Fork Foundation since September, 2004. His primary responsibility is the coordination of the Foundation's Research and Restoration program. He also is involved with the protection, mitigation, and enhancement of aquatic resources related to a couple hydropower licenses in the Henry's Fork watershed. He received his master's degree in Fish and Wildlife Management from Montana State University, Bozeman. Prior to graduate school he worked for seven years on the Nez Perce National Forest, Idaho as a fisheries technician and biologist. Jim is originally from Syracuse, New York and received his bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Hobart College. Jim and his wife, Amanda, and their daughter (Kayla) enjoy being in the mountains, or on the river, whenever they get a chance. Email Jim De Rito

Susan Steinman, Resources and Membership Manager
Susan has been with HFF since March 1995. She serves as a cofacilitator for the Henry's Fork Watershed Council and oversees most of the administrative operations of the Council. Susan manages the membership program for the foundation, oversees daily operations of the Watershed Center, the Center library, and also serves as administrative systems analyst and website engineer for HFF. She has studied at Rick's College and currently attends Idaho State University. Susan and her husband Rudy have two grown children Melissa and Michael, one grandson Antonio "T", four dogs Laddie, Annie, Rickie, and Gertie, three birds and a cat. She loves hiking, snowmobiling, riding her Harley, and just about anything outside.

Joan Rice, Finance Manager
Joan and her husband Lyn moved from Colorado to St. Anthony in 1999 to live closer to their grandchildren. As avid outdoor enthusiasts, they are also enjoying the uncrowded outdoor recreational opportunities in Eastern Idaho. They have six grown children living in Idaho, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. The only children left at home now are "SteeVee", a black lab and "Monster Kitty" also black who is 16 years young.

Melanie Sessions, Receptionist
Melanie joined the staff in the spring of 2005. She, her husband Lynn, and five sons moved to the area in 1991 from Tremonton, Utah when they had an opportunity to purchase the old Alpaun House in Island Park and start the Last Chance Lodge and Outfitters. Melanie and Lynn sold the Lodge and outfitting business and subsequently started a new one, Sessions Electric, which they currently operate with son Braide. Both Melanie and Lynn are still very active in the fly fishing community as Lynn guides for Trouthunter, Melanie ties flies during the winter to sell at local fly shops. At 9 years old, the fly fishing “bug” rubbed off on son, Braide who is also guide with Trouthunter. Melanie and Lyn are grandparents of 8 grandchildren.

Anne Marie Emery-Miller, Conservation Technician
Annie is in her third year with the Foundation as a field biologist and crew leader of the summer interns. She oversees the long-term monitoring stations, fisheries surveys, and other aquatic data collection throughout the watershed. She graduated from Alberston College of Idaho with a B.S. in environmental studies and conservation biology. She enjoys all outdoor activities and resides in Island Park with her husband Brad Miller, a guide for Trouthunter, and their son Jack.
