If you’ve spent any time on this river, you’ve seen it—wild trout rising in riffles, cold water flowing off the canyon walls, the unmistakable feeling that this river matters. But like rivers across the West, the South Fork is experiencing change. This is why the South Fork Initiative exists. Not to react after problems appear—but to build the systems, relationships, and science needed to get ahead of them. Because of donor support, we have three water-quality sondes and a real-time data website, begun a climate and snowmelt study to forecast future water availability, restored tributaries like Rainey and Third Creek, and engaged hundreds in education and community outreach.
As we enter the year-end giving season—and approach Giving Tuesday—we invite you to stand with the South Fork. This campaign fuels next year’s momentum, ensuring we can put even more science, collaboration, and restoration into action.
