DIRTT: PLAN FOR COOLER, CLEARER WATERS

"The ability for a group of people to do remarkable things hinges on how well those people can pull together."

The Dirtt Plan

Water temperatures and changing hatches are at the forefront of anglers’ minds, and for good reason. It’s time to look at large-scale engineering and grounded nature-based solutions. We want to reduce the amount of sediment sent into the river, and reduce water temperatures flowing through Harriman Ranch.

DIRTT aims to improve water temperatures and turbidity to build resilience for the river and the fish and insects that call it home. This might include variable-elevation withdrawal gates at Island Park Dam and deep-water oxygenation (adding oxygen to the reservoir for trout).

Nothing like this has ever been done on the Henry’s Fork before.

HFF was awarded a $1 million federal grant to partially fund the new DIRTT Plan. The federal grant covers part of the work, but we need a match to get it done. We invite you to invest in DIRTT: Plan for Cooler, Clearer Waters
