My name is Kathryn (Kate) Shiffler. I just finished my first year at the University of Idaho studying Conservation Biology and Wildlife Science. I grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho so the Henry’s Fork holds a special place in my heart. You can find me outside, whether that be hiking, fishing, or camping, whenever I can. As the field work intern, my goal is to gain first hand experience related to management and conservation. Going forward, I want to do my part in preserving the wild spaces that shaped me into who I am today.

Hi, my name is Tate Sargeant. I’ve lived in Rexburg my whole life, and I’m excited to give back to my awesome community. This summer, with my mentor Joe Hively, I’m doing field work, so stuff like counting fish, grabbing samples, lab work, maintenance on research equipment, and whatever else Joe needs help with. This fall, I’m starting at Utah State University in Freshwater and Marine Ecology and Biochemistry, and I’m so excited to get this opportunity.

My name is Sam Pruitt, and I am originally from Asheville, North Carolina. I am currently pursuing a degree in snow science at Montana State University, with a minor in GIS. This summer I am excited to work with my mentor, Otto Lang, installing new snow study stations within the Upper Snake River watershed to help better predict snow water supply.

Hello, I am Patrick Nardi, from Williamsport, PA. I am a rising junior at Colgate University majoring in environmental economics with a minor in film and media studies. For summer 2026 I will be interning with the South Fork Initiative. I look forward to working with Devan and the outreach program on the South Fork.

I am a rising senior at Washington and Lee University, where I study Economics, Environmental Studies, and German. This summer, I look forward to collecting and analyzing data to better understand how recreational use of the river can inform balanced management. As an avid saltwater angler, I am also excited to improve my fly-fishing skills and explore a new region of the country. After graduation, I plan to work in conservation before pursuing a J.D. and a career in environmental law.
