Giving Tuesday: South Fork Initiative

If you’ve spent any time on this river, you’ve seen it—wild trout rising in riffles, cold water flowing off the canyon walls, the unmistakable feeling that this river matters. But like rivers across the West, the South Fork is experiencing change. This is why the South Fork Initiative exists. Not to react after problems appear—but to build the systems, relationships, and science needed to get ahead of them. Because of donor support, we have three water-quality sondes and a real-time data website, begun a climate and snowmelt study to forecast future water availability, restored tributaries like Rainey and Third Creek, and engaged hundreds in education and community outreach. As we enter the year-end giving season—and approach Giving Tuesday—we invite you to stand with the South Fork. This campaign fuels next year’s momentum, ensuring we can put even more science, collaboration, and restoration into action.   GIVING TUESDAY GIVING LEVELS AND INCENTIVES $50 – Loon Outdoors Nocturnal Headlamp $100 – Custom HFF YETI Shot Glasses $250 – Custom HFF YETI Pitcher $500 – North Fork Nets Wading Net $1,250 – All Incentives Listed Above $2,500 – Green Drake – Scott Centric Rod 4-7wt (freshwater) OR Scott Sector 6-12wt (saltwater) OR Hatch Iconic Fly

Idaho Gives

Environmental dna (edna) study For the Future of the Henry’s Fork Fisheries Beneath the surface of the Henry’s Fork, there’s a story unfolding that we’re only beginning to understand. This year, through Idaho Gives, the Henry’s Fork Foundation is launching a new environmental DNA (eDNA) study focused on mountain whitefish and PMD hatches—two key signals of the river’s health. By collecting tiny traces of genetic material from the water, our team can track fish movement, better understand hatch timing and abundance, and begin to see how this ecosystem is changing over time. It’s a powerful new tool, grounded in real fieldwork—sampling across the watershed, processing data, and building long-term insight that will guide how we protect this river. Your support makes this work possible, and with a $16,000 matching gift from our Board of Directors, every donation during Idaho Gives will go twice as far.  For instructions on how to make a donation via Venmo, click here. DOUBLE YOUR DONATION The Henry’s Fork Foundation’s generous board members have offered to match up to $15,000 of donations made during the Idaho Gives season!   PLUS, as a way of saying thank you, your donation of $50 or more will get your
