Born in Swan Valley, Idaho, Shane Fleming is a sixth-generation member of a family deeply rooted in the valley. He attended high school and college in the Salt Lake City area, graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1993.

Shane spent his 33-year career with American Cyanamid and its successor, Cytec Industries, a global producer of carbon fiber composites and specialty chemicals. Starting in engineering, he advanced through technical, commercial, and leadership roles, ultimately serving as CEO and Chairman for seven years. His career included international assignments in Australia, Singapore, and Belgium, as well as board service with Valspar Paint and the SI Group. Following Cytec’s acquisition by Solvay in 2015, he retired and returned to Swan Valley.

Since retiring, Shane has been active in real estate development, including the Centre at Rainey Creek and projects in Idaho Falls. An original member of the South Fork Initiative, he has remained involved for nearly a decade. A lifelong angler, he has fished the South Fork of the Snake for over 50 years and also travels globally pursuing saltwater flats fishing.
