Giving Tuesday: South Fork Initiative

If you’ve spent any time on this river, you’ve seen it—wild trout rising in riffles, cold water flowing off the canyon walls, the unmistakable feeling that this river matters. But like rivers across the West, the South Fork is experiencing change. This is why the South Fork Initiative exists. Not to react after problems appear—but to build the systems, relationships, and science needed to get ahead of them. Because of donor support, we have three water-quality sondes and a real-time data website, begun a climate and snowmelt study to forecast future water availability, restored tributaries like Rainey and Third Creek, and engaged hundreds in education and community outreach. As we enter the year-end giving season—and approach Giving Tuesday—we invite you to stand with the South Fork. This campaign fuels next year’s momentum, ensuring we can put even more science, collaboration, and restoration into action.   GIVING TUESDAY GIVING LEVELS AND INCENTIVES $50 – Loon Outdoors Nocturnal Headlamp $100 – Custom HFF YETI Shot Glasses $250 – Custom HFF YETI Pitcher $500 – North Fork Nets Wading Net $1,250 – All Incentives Listed Above $2,500 – Green Drake – Scott Centric Rod 4-7wt (freshwater) OR Scott Sector 6-12wt (saltwater) OR Hatch Iconic Fly

Year End Appeal

THE RIVER IS CHANGING ⎯ AND THIS IS OUR MOMENT                                   Hotter summers. Lower, turbid late-season flows. Shifting hatches. The Henry’s Fork is feeling the strain of a changing West — but we know a path forward. Built on 40 years of science, HFF has: Science Where It MattersRoot-cause, limiting-factor science that protects what the river needs most. Partnership That WorksIrrigators, landowners, agencies, and anglers working from the same shared data. River-Specific SolutionsDeep local knowledge built by work on a day-to-day basis. Accountability by DesignContinuous monitoring and long-term datasets help us measure results.   When you support the Henry’s Fork Foundation, you’re helping us do the careful, patient work that gives this river its best chance in a changing world: showing up season after season, learning what this river needs, building trust across communities, and advocating for the river’s long-term health. Your gift helps support efforts aimed at: Colder water during critical summer months Clearer flows that insects, trout, and anglers depend on Healthier habitat where fish can thrive Science and monitoring that guide better decisions   This is what gives us hope. But as the river changes, so much our work–and your support makes it possible. This Giving Tuesday, December 2, your gift will go twice as far⏤HFF’s Board of Directors is matching all gifts up to $29,000. Idaho Gives

Environmental dna (edna) study For the Future of the Henry’s Fork Fisheries Beneath the surface of the Henry’s Fork, there’s a story unfolding that we’re only beginning to understand. This year, through Idaho Gives, the Henry’s Fork Foundation is launching a new environmental DNA (eDNA) study focused on mountain whitefish and PMD hatches—two key signals of the river’s health. By collecting tiny traces of genetic material from the water, our team can track fish movement, better understand hatch timing and abundance, and begin to see how this ecosystem is changing over time. It’s a powerful new tool, grounded in real fieldwork—sampling across the watershed, processing data, and building long-term insight that will guide how we protect this river. Your support makes this work possible, and with a $16,000 matching gift from our Board of Directors, every donation during Idaho Gives will go twice as far.  For instructions on how to make a donation via Venmo, click here. DOUBLE YOUR DONATION The Henry’s Fork Foundation’s generous board members have offered to match up to $15,000 of donations made during the Idaho Gives season!   PLUS, as a way of saying thank you, your donation of $50 or more will get your

Science and Technology Raffle

SUPPORT THE DIRTT ACTION FUND The Henry’s Fork has always been more than a river. It’s a shared place, a shared responsibility, and a community that shows up when it matters. For more than 40 years, that commitment has driven science, partnerships, and steady progress. Today, it’s carrying us into the next phase of that work: DIRTT—Developing Infrastructure to Reduce Temperature and Turbidity. Years of research, assessment, and evaluation have brought us to this moment. Designs are advancing, partners are engaged, and meaningful solutions are coming into focus. Now, the work shifts from understanding the problem to action. The DIRTT Action Fund is how that action happens. This fund allows us to move decisively—to advance infrastructure when windows open, demonstrate readiness to partners, and turn proven science into real improvements for water quality and fish habitat. This is how a strong community turns knowledge into action—and action into a healthier, more resilient Henry’s Fork. Because amazing days on this river aren’t all behind us. We’re building them together. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY RAFFLE PRIZES GRAND PRIZE: FALL ON THE FORKS – You and a guest will spend six days with experienced guides from three different outfitters: TroutHunter, Big Sky Anglers, and
